Set off the West Coast of Canada in 1965, a hip new teacher with a miniskirt and lots of ideas turns a small town upside down. The soft autumn light of Galiano Island is beautifully rendered in writer/producer Peggy Thompson's The Lotus Eaters, and that's not the only elusive element that this film has captured. In revisiting its particular time and place - the Gulf Islands of the early '60s -Thompson obviously draws on her own family experiences there. For those who share Thompson's love of Gulf Islands magic, the elements she has assembled will feel as familiar as their own childhood blanket. But there are problems at the core of this story about a family's loss of innocence.

Follows the lives of British expatriates living on the island of Crete, where their secrets will soon rise to the surface.

Story follows a group of young Londoners as they struggle to find meaning in their lives while masking their discontent with sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll.

A privileged family, gathered for a wake, find their perfect home under attack from the desperate survivors of a parasitic pandemic.

Jules (Alice May Connolly) is on a New Year's Eve trip with her new boyfriend and his two stoner friends in the wops of North Canterbury when they stumble across a long-abandoned stash in an old shed. After a quick session and an accidental murder, the marijuana turns them into enthusiastic cannibals. To cover the evidence of their murder, they decide to keep toking so they can devour the body. What will happen when the meat runs out? Who will be the next victim? The Weed Eaters is another entry into the beloved kiwi horror comedy canon. Shot on a deceptively low budget raised through crowdfunding and featuring appearances from Delaney Davidson, The Bats’ Paul Kean and comedian David Correos playing it straight. For a film about cannibalism, subtle effects keep the goriness to a minimum, so it’s even safe for all but the most squeamish. As with the best horror flicks, the true terror comes in the form of paranoia and growing mistrust between friends and as with many other gruesome faves it is not without social commentary as it explores New Zealand's relationship with drugs and how it affects friendships. — Jordan Salomen

For forty years, underground film-makers Greg Weaver and Spyder Wills documented surf discovery as it migrated around the world. Their shots captured on celluloid became the images for such films as Stylemasters, The Forgotten Island of Santosha, Big Wednesday, Pacific Vibrations, Uluwatu and many more. This documentary is a cinematic journey inspired by many of the reels that were lost in the making of these films. Since that time, these reels have resurfaced and are now brought to light. A fusion of rare super 8mm film, photo stills and contemporary interviews blend together to make Chasing the Lotus the most in-depth look at the evolution of the surf culture and surf discovery ever made.
